Learning To Be
MySELF
& Helping You BE Too!
Hi, my name is Rocio Flores!
This is my website—home to my work as a
peer coach, writer, artist, and advocate.

My life’s purpose is to help you set YOURSELF free to BE
—I help real people, in the real world, achieve real change. As a peer coach, I guide you to discover who you truly are, embrace your experiences and personality, and make choices that let you show up as your authentic SELF.
My goal is to help you untangle the pressures, doubts, and expectations that hold the REAL you back, so you can take meaningful steps toward being YOURSELF—using a peer approach to coaching alongside evidence-based, trauma-informed strategies designed for real-life application.
I’m also a writer, artist, and advocate. On this site, I share a peer perspective, practical resources, and creative tools to support your growth journey—while navigating my own.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change. - Carl Rogers

The Self-Help Peer Approach
Discover your truest self with experienced and battle worn support.
People only seriously consider change when they feel accepted for exactly who they are.
— Carl R. Rogers
Real People
I want to help real people be their real selves.
I believe most people are not confused about who they are — they are conditioned away from it.
Social systems reward performance. Culture promotes trends over understanding. Many forms of self-help sell identity as something to acquire rather than uncover.
I believe in:
-
Acceptance as the foundation for change
-
Research-based understanding of human behavior
-
Examining inherited beliefs and internalized narratives
-
Respecting neurodiversity and individual variation
-
Distinguishing authenticity from aesthetic self-expression
Being yourself is not a brand.
It is alignment between your internal experience and your external life.
Authenticity should function in relationships, decisions, boundaries, and belief systems — not just in theory.
Real World
I want to help people be themselves in the real world.
Growth that ignores context is fragile.
People live within social structures, cultural expectations, economic realities, and institutional systems. Personal development that refuses to acknowledge those forces becomes individual-blame disguised as empowerment.
I believe in:
-
Trauma-informed perspectives
-
Psychosocial and cultural awareness
-
Evidence-based strategy over motivational rhetoric
-
Naming structural barriers without surrendering agency
-
Building frameworks that function within constraints
Reality is not an obstacle to growth.
It is the environment growth must operate within.
Real Change
I want to help people achieve real change.
Insight without integration creates the illusion of progress.
Lasting change requires behavioral alignment, repetition, and sustainable structure. It is not dramatic reinvention. It is strategic adjustment.
I believe in:
-
Actionable, measurable steps
-
Long-term integration over short-term intensity
-
Systems that reduce cognitive and emotional overload
-
Aligning values, identity, and behavior
-
Choosing change that can withstand pressure
Real change is visible in daily life — not just in language.

Ro’s Journey
From a Struggle to Change to Authentic Self-Love
Discover the Framework
Rocio B. Flores is a published author, mental health peer specialist, artist, and community advocate. Her work integrates lived experience with research-informed psychosocial understanding to help people examine identity, belief systems, and behavior in real-world contexts.
Her personal philosophy centers on the #BEYourSELF framework — a model grounded in acceptance, cultural awareness, trauma-informed perspective, and sustainable change.
Across peer support, writing, art, speaking, and advocacy, Rocio focuses on:
-
Acceptance as the foundation for growth
-
Evidence-based, strategic change
-
Identity exploration within social and cultural systems
-
Resilience that functions in everyday life
-
Alignment between belief, behavior, and self-trust
This is not motivational self-help. It is structured, reflective, and rooted in both lived and studied experience.
Dive Into the Story
Rocio’s framework did not begin as theory. It developed through personal struggle — navigating trauma, mental health challenges, faith questions, cultural expectations, and the tension between survival and authenticity.
Her journey from trying to change herself to learning to understand herself reshaped how she defines growth. Instead of chasing reinvention, she began building integration — aligning identity with behavior, values with action, and self-acceptance with accountability.
That evolution informs everything she creates and offers.
To understand how her lived experience, training, and advocacy intersect — and how they may support your own process — explore her full story.
